[xcat-user] New xCAT user in need of setup assistance.

Actually you want to run xcatconfig -f or xcatconfig -c to just generate
the credentials. Are there any errors reported?
You are not going to be able to run any xcat commands until you can start
xcatd successfully.

Did you have any errors installing the deps package?

Run service xcatd start and monitor /var/log/messages to see if it reports
any errors.

was it ever working before? Try cleaning out /etc/xcat/* and
/root/.xcat/* and running xcatconfig then restarting xcatd

Good morning all,

I have been following the howto here:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=Basic_Install_DHCP
, and can't for the life of me, figure out what I am missing.

I have tried the advice to run "xcatconfig --force" posted here:
http://www.xcat.org/pipermail/xcat-user/2008-July/006662.html

And it gets through to here:

Starting xcatd.....

Command failed: /opt/xcat/sbin/mknb x86 2>&1. Error message: Connection
failure: IO::Socket::SSL: connect: Connection timed out at
/opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 143..

The mknb x86 command returned error: 110.

Command failed: /opt/xcat/sbin/mknb x86_64 2>&1. Error message: Connection
failure: IO::Socket::SSL: connect: Connection timed out at
/opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 143..

The mknb x86_64 command returned error: 110.

Command failed: /opt/xcat/sbin/mknb ppc64 2>&1. Error message: Connection
failure: IO::Socket::SSL: connect: Connection timed out at
/opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 143..

The mknb ppc64 command returned error: 110.

Command failed: /opt/xcat/sbin/makenetworks 2>&1. Error message:
Connection failure: IO::Socket::SSL: connect: Connection timed out at
/opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 143..

The makenetworks command returned error: 110.

Updated the site definition with the value of the nameserver.

httpd has been restarted.

httpd has been enabled.

xCAT is now installed, it is recommended to tabedit networks
and set a dynamic ip address range on any networks where nodes
are to be discovered. Then, run makedhcp -n to create a new dhcpd
configuration file, and /etc/init.d/dhcpd restart. Either examine sample
configuration templates, or write your own, or specify a value per
 node with nodeadd or tabedit.
But a tabdump for me fails.

Here is the relevent info, if you see what I may be missing, please let me
know.
