We are an IBM BP, SO I have been learning xCAT for the last few weeks on
Cell, PPC and xSeries, and now in the process of training my colleagues.
So, I have 6 machines, 3 masternodes and 3 compute nodes, each cluster
on a different vlan (so that they don't interfere). Each masternode was
installed identically.
After some diagnosing, I found that it was trying to close the noderes
table and then the nodetype table, and these tables did not exist in the
/etc/xcat directory. I copied over these files from my test xCAT server,
then It complained something to do with "use strict", which I then
commented out from /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Utils.pm, after which I was
able to start xcatd
