Make sure you run service dhcp stop on all xCAT mgmt nodes but one.

Yes, I was using this mgmt node until yesterday and it was fine.

I tried installing xcat on another node in the same network and I was able
to install from that mgmt node with no issues.

I tried manually setting nodeset nodename boot but the node hangs at loading
grub message probably because the serialconsole post script did not ran and
it did not set up grub.conf properly.

Target os is rhws4 x86_64

I noticed that after installation is its not mounting /opt/xcat as it
usually does to perform post install.

I will cross check check switch settings also.

Thanks for your help,
Vijeeth

Did it work in the past? If so what did you change?

Install a node, watch it, then after install starts manually type nodeset
nodename boot.

When the node boots up, look in /tmp/xcatpostscripts, there will be a log
file of what postscripts ran.

Also check /tmp/* and /root/* for RH logs, and /var/adm for SuSE logs.
Stderr and stdout should be present.

What is the target OS?

If syslog on the mgmt node is not reporting any postinstall activity from
the nodes, check for NFS activity, if none, then I suspect that there is a
networking problem and the post install is not starting. The post install
will try to mount NFS 10 times and then give up.

Yes, I can connect to port 3001, I can not see any logs when install
completes it just waits for long time after installing bootloader and then
reboots and continues to install again as the boot flag is not getting
updated and I don't think any of the post scripts are running. Please see
below.

Is it running? If so, did you block port 3001?

All of sudden I am getting updateflag errors and when I reload any compute
node it does not update the boot flag.

I am using xCAT1.3.

 /opt/xcat/install/postscripts/updateflag.awk
+ logger -t xcat 'updateflag: could not talk xcatd on '
+ sleep 5
+ :
+ /opt/xcat/install/postscripts/updateflag.awk

Can any one please help ?

Thanks,
Vijeeth
