Define support.

Can wareCAT images boot over IB? Yes, if IB adapter has PXE support, and a
subnet manager is running on a switch.

Can wareCAT images have IB drivers and IB software installed in them? Yes.
There are wareCAT/IB shops today. Largest I know of has over 2000 nodes.
Some nodes are IB to 10GE gateways, also stateless with wareCAT.

IMHO, IB is not as reliable as GigE and sometimes the best way to solve an
IB issue is to have an OS on the node. E.g. what if the IB firmware needs
to be updated for network boot to work, but you cannot boot to update the
firmware.

I'd recommend GigE for booting and systems management and IB for application
traffic only.

Subject: [xcat-user] Does warewulf(wareCAT) support infiniband network?
Importance: High

Hello,

Who knows whether warewulf(wareCAT) solution support Infiniband network? Is
there an implementation example I can reference?
I want to set up an Infiniband cluster using wareCAT but not sure if it is
feasible or not.
Please feel free to give me your comments. Thank you in advance!

Thanks, Xiangjun
