Useful information on how to get Fibre Channel to see all LUNS without
rebuilding kernel.

Well, It works without rebuilding the kernel.. Below is what I did.
1. First I added the line "options scsi_mod max_scsi_luns=128" to
modules.conf. This enables MULTI_LUN support in the kernel without
rebuilding the kernel.
2. Next I re-built the two initrd images
mkinitrd initrd-2.4.2-2.img 2.4.2-2
mkinitrd initrd-2.4.2-2smp.img 2.4.2-2smp
3. Re-ran /sbin/lilo so that at boot time, the new initrd images would
used.
4. Rebooted the node. During the boot process, the node panicked.
This happened because we are running a modular kerenel and the adapatec
SCSI device driver needs to be probed before any other SCSI adapters so
that during the init phase, the kernel can properly find the root device.
The internal drive needs to be available before other drives come online.
5. So I rearranged the modules.conf file as shown below:
-- ORIGINAL modules.conf
alias eth0 eepro100
alias scsi_hostadapter qla2x00
alias scsi_hostadapter1 aic7xxx
alias scsi_hostadapter2 ips
alias eth1 e1000
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias scsi_hostadapter3 aic7xxx
alias scsi_hostadapter4 aic7xxx
alias usb-controller usb-ohci
-- NEW modules.conf
alias eth0 eepro100
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias scsi_hostadapter1 ips
alias eth1 e1000
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias scsi_hostadapter2 qla2x00
alias usb-controller usb-ohci
options scsi_mod max_scsi_luns=128
6. I then remade the initrd images, ran /sbin/lilo and rebooted the node.
This time everything worked. The node did not panic and all the SCSI LUNS
are available on the system.
I am now going the update the other three storage nodes.
Hope you'll find this helpful.
Later,
Regards,

Abby has been successful in having the x342 storage nodes running Redhat
7.1 (2.4.2-2 Kernel) see all the disks in FastT200 storage devices and has
posted the procedure on the following website.
